Row over Pakistan actress Veena Malik nude 'ISI' Photo

A row has erupted over an image of Pakistani actress Veena Malik sporting the initials ISI on her arm, with FHM India insisting it is not fake.

It has caused a sensation in Pakistan for both the nudity and the initials of Pakistan's controversial Inter-Services Intelligence spy agency.

Pakistani media have quoted a spokesman for Ms Malik as saying she never took part in such a photoshoot.

But FHM India's editor told the BBC that nothing had been doctored. 

"We have video footage of the shoot as well as emails from Veena about how she's looking forward to the cover," Kabeer Sharma told the BBC's Nosheen Abbas in Islamabad. 

"The idea to have ISI written on her arm was mine, and it was Veena's idea to have it in block letters," he added.

He said that the image was intended to be playful, saying that: "In India we joke about this... if anything goes wrong... we say the ISI must be behind this."
The ISI has been in the headlines in recent months after senior US officials accused it of supporting militants based in Pakistan's tribal areas who target Western troops in Afghanistan.

In September the most senior US military officer Adm Mike Mullen said that the Haqqani militant network "acts as a veritable arm of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Agency".
Pakistan has vehemently denied such allegations.

Pakistan outrage
Correspondents say that the image, which is the cover of the December issue of the Indian edition of the global men's magazine, has caused a storm in Pakistan with many people expressing outrage over the nudity and the boldness of the photo.

Many Pakistanis on the micro-blogging site Twitter are also expressing bemusement at the image.
The Express Tribune newspaper in Pakistan said a representative of Ms Malik had denied she posed for the shoot.

"Veena knows her limits. I know we have done quite bold stuff/shoots, those which are available on our website, but she knows her parameters," Sohail Rashid is quoted as saying.
FHM's editor said he had never heard of the representative and added that Ms Malik had not got in touch to ask him to modify or remove the image.

The actress has been at the centre of controversy before.

She caused outrage among conservative circles in Pakistan for appearing on the Indian reality show Bigg Boss in 2010. She hit the headlines again in March this year by challenging the views of a Pakistani cleric on television.

Reema Kagti’s untitled Aamir Khan starrer and Venus’ multi-starrer Tezz were supposed to release on Republic Day (Jan 26) weekend next year. However, Aamir feels that the post-production may take some time and hence has decided to arrive at a later date. 

With one slot open on the Republic Day weekend, Karan Johar has now shifted the release date of his magnum opus Agneepath from Jan 13 to Jan 26. Karan tweeted, “AGNEEPATH is now releasing on the 26th of January, 2012″. 

Meanwhile the makers of Priyadarshan directed Tezz, Venus Films, have confirmed that they are in no mood to change the release date of the film. Tezz stars Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Kangna Ranaut and Sameera Reddy. 

Also, Dibarkar Banerjee’s Shanghai which stars Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi is scheduled to release on the Republic Day next year as of now. 

So, on the Republic Day next year, get ready to witness the big clash between Agneepath, Tezz and Shanghai.

Aishwarya rai baby girl, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gives birth to baby girl

Mumbai: Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given birth to a baby girl, the first child for the former Miss World and her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan. The delivery took place at the Seven Hills Hospital in Marol, Mumbai. 

A proud grandfather, Amitabh tweeted on Wednesday morning, "I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl !!"
Later in the day, an excited dad Abhishek said both mother and daughter were doing fine. "Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest....And I'm trying my level best to get rid of this caffeine high and get some sleep too. Don't think it'll work. TOO EXCITED!!!!," Abhishek tweeted. 

Aishwarya, 38, has been married to Abhishek for more than four years and the star couple had been fending off baby rumours for months before the pregnancy was confirmed in June.
Aishwarya was expected to give birth to her first child in November and the media had followed her pregnancy obsessively. She had been admitted to the on Monday. Aishwarya, who often features on 'most beautiful' lists, has worked in several Bollywood and Hollywood films. Aishwarya is also the spokeswoman for beauty brand L'Oreal. 

India's boisterous news channels were unusually respectful of the family's privacy after an industry group issued new guidelines instructing television journalists to cover the birth announcement with restraint. The new rules included no pre-coverage of the birth and no outdoor broadcast vans outside the hospital. The event was to be reported only after a formal announcement by the Bachchan family. 

Abhishek and Aishwarya had married on April 20, 2007 as per Hindu customs. The much publicised wedding had taken place in a private ceremony at 'Prateeksha', the Bachchan residence in Juhu, Mumbai.
Twitter has been the speculation ground for the Bachchan baby since long. There have been speculations on the exact date of delivery and the gender of the baby. 

The senior Bachchan had even hit back after the interest shown by the media and people by tweeting, "Getting congratulatory messages on Aishwarya delivering a boy !!! Guess they know more than even she does !! False and incorrect news." 

Even celebrities did not lag behind in expressing interest about the baby. Renowned novelist Tasleema Nasreen had tweeted that "I love Aishwarya Rai. But when I said 'I wish she would give birth to a baby girl', people asked me, Why do you hate Aishwarya?" 

The much awaited birth of the year has made the child a celebrity in her own way. It will be interesting to see how the Bachchan family will guard the baby from being exposed to the limelight even before it reaches a certain age. 

The western world has seen many celebrity children such as David Beckham's son Brooklyn or Brangelina's twins in recent times where the paparazzi have hounded every step of the child and its parents.
The twitterazzi swooped down upon the news from the moment Bachchan broke the news on Twitter. A tweet confirming the pregnancy of a leading actress in the industry, perhaps for the first time in cinematic history, made front page news in major national dailies. As the sun sets on the era of star kids, celebrity babies usher in a trend imported from Hollywood show business. 

As Bollywood's first family, the Bachchans have always been in the limelight, be it the intense coverage of the Abhi-Ash wedding or Senior B's illness. 

As a celeb baby, every moment of its life is going to be of interest, the pregnancy photos, the delivery date, the first baby photos might go to the highest bidder as is the Hollywood trend, the baby's name will have the nation thinking and whether the new born will get the father's height and gait or the mother's looks. And post that, every action, every decision made by the celeb parents for the baby will be news. Tremendous pressure on a new-born isn't it? 

The celeb baby phenomenon has just come in to Bollywood. Abhishek and Shweta had star parents as well, as did Esha Deol. But their birth and childhood was never half as high profile. 

In the recent past, Ajay Devgan and Kajol's children and Twinkle and Akshay Kumar's son – has been in the news only when spotted with their star-parents. They aren't stars yet. The Abhi-Ash child will come in to an industry that worships the parents and the grandparents.

Lisa Irwin (born 2010) is an 11-month old baby, reported missing from her home in Kansas City, MO on Oct 3, 2011.[1][2][3] The missing persons report attracted national publicity in late 2011 due to implications for Lisa's parents, and strange reports related to the case.

Events

Deborah Bradley, Lisa's mother, says Lisa's father discovered Lisa missing from her bed around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4. According to Deborah, Lisa had been in her bed when he checked on her at 10:30 p.m. Monday night, but when he came home from his late night job on Tuesday, he discovered "many of the home's lights were on, a window was open and the front door was unlocked".[3] Later, the family told police that several cellphones were also missing.[3]
During the subsequent investigation, two witnesses were discovered who claim to have seen a man walking down the street with a baby.[4] Police were able to find and question a man matching the description of one witness, but the other witness has claimed his photo does not match the man they saw.[5][6]
On October 19, 2011, a search was performed of the Irwin home, and a cadaver dog turned up a scent of a dead body near the mother's bed.[4]
During an interview with The Associated Press, Deborah said the police had accused her of being involved in Lisa's disappearance, and informed her that she had failed a lie detector test, telling her "You did it. You did it. And we have nothing."[7][8] Deborah and Jeremy announced the following week that they were organizing a reward in hopes that it would result in new information.
Jeremy Irwin appeared on the Today Show for an interview regarding the events, saying "We just want to make sure that we tell everybody that we're still cooperating. We're still talking to the police. We're doing everything we can to try to find Lisa and bring her home."[9]
In October, the Irwin family reported that an "anonymous benefactor" had hired a private investigator, and issued a $100,000 reward for Lisa's return.[10]
In October 2011, Cyndy Short stopped representing the Irwin family, saying that she was unable to work with the family's other attorney.[11][12] Lisa's brothers had been scheduled for interviews and to collect DNA samples regarding the case, but their parents cancelled the night before, according to Joe Tacopina, the family's attorney, and have subsequently denied investigators access to the boys.[12] A police request for a warrant claims that inconsistent stories from people involved may have hampered early stages of the investigation.[6]

Last night, Occupy K Street-DC erected a wooden structure, a "People's Pavilion," at their main encampment in McPherson Square. According to Occupiers, the structure will be used as a warm place (designed to be heated by a novel sustainable energy source: water bottles that collect and store solar heat) for General Assemblies, teach-ins, and other community building purposes.
They have also said that the structure represents the needs of the 99% who are being left houseless by economic inequality. The People' Pavilion is a symbol of all homes stolen by banks and corporate greed, right on K Street -- in front of the Wall Street lobbyists who buy the politicians on Capitol Hill. Last night, Portland Police used violent force to evict Shemanski Park. Photos and live footage show police in full riot gear aggressively taking down nonviolent protesters. Among other incidents, one 15 year old was smashed in the face with a baton. Undaunted, Occupiers took to the streets, routed lines of riot police, and marched on City Hall. As revelers joined in and the protest continued to grow, the march stopped downtown for a dance party and then returned to Shemanski to defend their new home while celebrating with more dancing and pizza. Portland Re-Occupies

Occupy Portland has reoccupied a new home. Marchers arrived at Shemanski Park at the corner of SW Park & Salmon around 5pm PST today and began setting up tents, canopies, and other infrastructure. Two police with batons arrived and threatened the crowd, but were shouted down by the jubilant Occupiers and eventually left. There is an open kitchen and live music on stage. As of 6:30pm PST, there were already over 20 tents set up.
There will be a General Assembly at 7pm PST. Occupy Portland is anticipating an eviction and encourages all supporters in the area to join them in peaceful, nonviolent solidarity tonight! You can also follow @OccupyPdx and @OccupyOregon on Twitter.
Like other occupations across the country, Occupy Portland has recently experienced police repression and was evicted from their original encampment. However, as in other cities, Occupiers have not allowed this to deter their efforts to protest economic inequality. In Portland, supporters have been organizing mobile flash mobs on bicycles to "bike swarm" banks. Meanwhile, Occupations in Los Angeles, Boston, and elsewhere marched today. In Philadelphia, Occupy Philly marched to proclaim: "You Can't Evict an Idea."

Occupy Seattle Joins Wave of Building Occupations

Last night, undeterred by the city's destruction of their original encampment, hundreds of Occupy Seattle supporters occupied a vacant warehouse slated for demolition and condo development. After entering, Occupiers erected barricades, held a General Assembly, and began plans to fix up the space for community use.
Using SWAT teams and a ladder truck, police swarmed the warehouse, making 20 arrests and setting an unsettling precedent for the escalating use of military-style tactics against nonviolent occupiers who are liberating public space.
Occupy Seattle is currently holding a jail solidarity action in front of the King County jail and are requesting all their supporters show up!
Like similar building occupations across the country and the globe, Seattle's occupation of the 10th and Union warehouse signals a new stage of the Occupy movement. Facing a coordinated crackdown on public encampments, occupiers are moving indoors. On December 6th Occupy Wall Street will join in solidarity with a Brooklyn community to re-occupy a foreclosed home. The day of action marks a national kick-off for a new frontier for the occupy movement: the liberation of vacant bank-owned homes for those in need. The banks got bailed out, but our families are getting kicked out. The fight to reclaim democracy from the banks is growing from Wall Street to Main Street.
The NYC foreclosure tour and home re-occupation is part of a big national day of action on Dec. 6 that will focus on the foreclosure crisis and protest fraudulent lending practices, corrupt securitization, and illegal evictions by banks. The Occupy movement actions, including eviction defense at foreclosed properties, takeovers of vacant properties by homeless families, and foreclosure action disruptions, will take place in more than 25 cities across the country.
Millions of Americans have lost their homes in the Wall Street recession and one in four homeowners are currently underwater on their mortgages. The 99% is bearing the brunt of a crisis caused by Wall Street and big banks.

Along the way, we will take stock of foreclosed properties for the growing Occupy REAL Estate Listing Service, so families can reclaim stolen homes in their neighborhood -- and connect with allies in their communities to defend the human right to a home. The march will end at a house warming and block party for the family and their neighbors. Bring housewarming gifts and food to share!

  • Put up signs directing people to OWS: Taking back our home, or 'JOIN US IN TAKING OUR STORIES TO THE TRAIN', whatever you want your sign to say.
  • Encourage someone to start with their first story. Give people gathered a brief intro to using the People's Mic on the train - i.e. only use 4 words at a time, wait for people to finish echoing before starting the next phrase, etc.
  • Get on the 3 or L trains by 12:00 at the latest (trying to get to East NY by1:00), after a few stories have been shared/practiced. Make sure everyone gets on the same train!
  • Be inspired: Start the People's Mic on the train! And let things roll from there! Stay on 1 train car, stay together, but feel free to stop at main stops to do the People's Mic on the platform (places like Union Square or 42nd Street - with tons of people). If people get shy, encourage them to tell their story, give them a smile and a wink.

Moving Forward Together: An Open Space for Discussion

Since losing our encampment, different spaces have been used for continued discussion and creative reflection together. This Saturday, a process called Open Space will be piloted to look at what we value, what we’ve accomplished, and where we are going. Please join us as an individual or with your work group. Invite friends, family or any others who you want in this conversation with you. Open Space is based in decentralized small conversations that are documented and shared with the whole group. It is more resilient to disruption and less centered on facilitators. There will be opportunities to be trained in hosting Open Space gatherings in the coming weeks if people are interested.

Lincoln Center is sponsored by the Koch Brothers and Bloomberg. At the same time that they celebrate this story of a historic social movement, they are working to shut down the contemporary Occupy movement.
In protest, Phillip Glass will lead a mic check / people's mic outside, reciting the libretto (chorus of Gandhi quotes).

What: A General Assembly at 10:30 PM at Lincoln Center. Walmart Tomorrow, the Aviation Week and Credit Suisse will be holding their 17th annual Aerospace & Defense Finance Conference in NYC. These war profiteers export death in the name of defense. They have obscene influence over our democracy with politicians in their pockets and hundreds of lobbyists working congress. They sell arms to to the 1% so that war can be waged against the 99% in efficient and technologically advanced ways. #OWS will not stand silent as these dangerous parasites take our tax dollars and turn them into arms and profit.

CUNY Protests Happening Now

[Mayor] Nutter has joined the chorus of Mayors nationwide to silence and render invisible this movement against Wall Street greed. URGENT: Occupy LA Prepares for Eviction

The mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, has ordered Occupy LA to pack up and leave Solidarity Park (formerly City Hall Park) by 12:01AM tonight or face arrest. Villaraigosa – who initially claimed to support the Occupation and has lauded OWS for "awakening the country's conscience" – is now citing "public health and safety" as justification to evict the encampment, even as LA police chief Charlie Beck refused to reject the use of tear gas and rubber bullets against nonviolent protestors.
As Villaraigosa held a press conference announcing the park would be closed indefinitely after eviction, Occupy LA held a counter press conference outside City Hall. Meanwhile inside, Occupy LA delivered part of its General Assembly's response, including their so-far unmet grievances:
As a collective, Occupy Los Angeles would like to express their rejection of the City of Los Angeles’ alleged proposal that we leave City Hall by November 28th, 2011, in exchange for an apparently now rescinded offer of a 10,000 square foot building, farmland and 100 SRO beds for the homeless. . . .

We the people have peaceably assembled in public space seeking at minimum a full of redress of grievance for the government's criminal mistreatment of the people and fraudulent application of judiciary responsibilities, in large part for the interest of exploitative corporations and weaponized banks.

Answering Egypt's Call for Solidarity

On November 22, occupiers of Tahrir Square issued an urgent call for global solidarity, asking the world to:
  • Occupy / shut-down Egyptian embassies worldwide. Now they represent the junta ; reclaim them for the Egyptian people.
  • Shut down the arms dealers. Do not let them make it, ship it.
  • Shut down the part of your government dealing with the Egyptian junta.
The Occupy movement is answering their call. Yesterday, hundreds marched on the Egyptian consulate in New York City.
In NYC today (Saturday, Nov 26), an Egyptian solidarity rally will begin at 1 PM at the Egypt Mission (East 44th St & 2nd Ave), with a march at 4PM.
An action is also being planned for Thursday, December 1st in front of a tear gas plant in Jamestown, Pennsylvania that has been supplying the Egyptian military junta. This Black Friday, as millions of Americans scramble to find the "best deals" on consumer goods, thousands of Chinese manufacturing workers are striking to demand livable wages, job security, and other basic rights. In Huangjiang alone, 8,000 striking shoe factory workers took the streets Thursday, blocking roads and standing down lines of riot police. Their factory, owned Yue Yuen Industrial Holdings, is a major provider to the sportswear company New Balance.

It seems fair to say these workers are striking for a "new balance" with their management, and the system of global exploitation that management serves. Facing police repression and media censorship, striking Chinese workers are standing up against the same unfair economic system we are fighting on Wall Street and across the world. NBA star Kris Humphries is seeking to erase his marriage to Kim Kardashian from the record. The 26-year-old wants to annul his 72-day marriage to reality star Kim Kardashian, 31 , on the grounds of fraud, and filed the papers today. According to People, his Superior Court filing has the box reading 'nullity of voidable marriage' marked and checks as the basis the box saying 'fraud.' According to California law, a nullity is granted if the court finds that no valid marriage ever took place. Along with fraud, grounds for an annulment include bigamy, incest, force or if the couple are under the age of consent.Humphries's papers say that if he's not granted an annulment then he wants a legal separation and not a divorce under any circumstances.

The basketball star agrees on the date of separation, however, which he also lists as October 31.

Annulments can be difficult to obtain, with a legal expert telling the publication that he will likely have to prove that fraud was actually committed.
But Kim is telling her friends that she absolutely loved Kris and the marriage just fell apart, according to TMZ, so she's unlikely to be agree with this assessment.
LA family lawyer Scott Weston, who is not dealing with the celebrity couple, said Kardashian will probably fight the matter 'unless she's willing to agree that she defrauded him.'
It could mean the pair will end up in a bitter court battle.

TV Links was a user contributed online video directory for television programmes, films, and music videos.[3] In a similar style to BitTorrent trackers such as The Pirate Bay, video content was not hosted by TV Links. Instead, videos were hosted by third-party video sharing websites. The website was operated as a hobby by David Rock of Cheltenham, England.[3]
On October 18, 2007, the website's servers, located in the Netherlands, were raided and shut down by Gloucestershire police in cooperation with the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) in response to complaints received from major US film studios about TV Links.[3][4] No official clarification was made to date as to why the website was shut down. Simultaneously, David Rock was arrested, and later released pending further investigation, without being charged with a crime.[3][5] Although FACT initially stated that the raid was performed because of allegations of copyright infringement, it later stated that Rock was arrested for trademark infringement.[5]

History

TV Links launched on October 2006,[1] following a surge in services of its kind. At that time, it provided hyperlinks to videos on video sharing websites.[6]
On about March 20, 2007, the website was updated to use a streaming web-based video player, and direct external links were no longer made available.[3][7][8]

Shutdown and arrests by UK government

On October 18, 2007, owner David Rock was arrested by the Gloucestershire police in cooperation with the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT), and the website was shut down.[9][10]
Initial claims by FACT indicated the arrest was made due to offenses of facilitating copyright infringement. However, it was later made clear that the arrest was over a matter of possible trademark infringement.[5][9]
In a statement issued by FACT following the events, local trading standards head Roger Marles, has implied that the website's update from hyperlinks to a streaming video player might have affected the shutdown. He stated that the arrest and shutdown were initiated because TV Links allowed users "[to view] any one of a large number of films and television programmes directly via the website. This is illegal under UK copyright law."[9]
Whilst arrested under Section 92 of the Trade Marks Act 1994,[5] he has now been released "pending further investigation" with no charges filed against him.[5] Section 92 has been used to prosecute illegal copiers of CDs and DVDs, but never in the absence of a physical storage medium. It is unclear whether the operation of TV Links was actually a crime under UK law.[11] In an interview, Rock stated that he would have not started the website if he had found anything in the laws of the country stating that what he was doing was illegal.[3]

Operation

Video content that was used by the website was hosted by third-party video sharing websites. TV Links used hyperlinks, and later a streaming web-based video player, in order to link visitors to videos.
The website had a forum community with a membership of around 37,000 members at the time of closure.[12] Links to videos were posted daily on the forums by members, and later moved to the website listings by admins.[13][14]
After the video player was introduced, the website's crew enforced a strict policy against saving the provided video content, and viewing it outside the scope of its video player.[7][13] This policy was further enforced by a technical implementation, the URL that directed the video player to video files contained a randomly generated MD5 encoded string, and was made to expire after several minutes, or after being loaded once.[8]

Legal efforts

The website's servers were purposely located in the Netherlands so that UK copyright law could not apply to them.[4]
As part of the effort to protect the website against legal action, a link to the following legal disclaimer was displayed at the bottom of most pages.
