Yana Gupta or Yaana (born Jana Synková) is a Czech model and actress working in Mumbai.[1] Gupta is a citizen of the Czech Republic.[2]

Yana Gupta was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) on 23 April 1979 to Czech parents and began modelling in the mid-1990s. Her career took a turn towards the east when she married Indian artist Satyakam Gupta in Pune.[3] and changed her last name from Synkova to Gupta. She divorced Gupta in 2005.[4] In 2008 she altered her given name to Yaana.[5]

Yaana appeared on numerous magazine covers, including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Femina, and now on Maxim. Gupta modeled for the premier Kingfisher's calendar and has performed dance numbers in three films including the remix of babuji zara dheere chalo. Before her career in Bollywood, she modeled for international clients like Calvin Klein and Victoria's Secret.

Yaana made her big screen debut in the Bollywood movie Dum for the song Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo which made her famous for cameo item numbers. She was named the new face for Lakmé Cosmetics in 2001. She has also appeared in a Kannada movie named Jogi. She played the role of a TV anchor on the countdown show Mirch Masala on Zoom TV where she danced to famous dance numbers.
Yaana recently[when?] signed up with a leading mobile and PC games company Indiagames as brand ambassador and will be featured in several interesting games and applications related to fitness, puzzles etc. Yaana has featured on the Dr Zeus album Back Unda Da Influence, which was released in 2007. She featured in a cameo role in the video for the song "Chargai", released on Aman Hayer's 2008 release Groundshaker 2. The song features vocals from Jazzy B and Apache Indian. She is also very famous for her song "Kadhaal Yaanai" from the blockbuster Tamil film Anniyan [dubbed in Hindi as Aparichit] and "Aadatanama" from the Telugu film Gharshana (remake of blockbuster Tamil film Kaaka Kaaka). She also appeared in the item numbers: "Oh! What A Babe" in the film Rakht, "Aakalesthe" in the film Shankardada Zindabad.

Yaana was one of the strongest contenders in the popular TV show Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi on Colors TV.She was a participant in a Dancing show called Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Season 4, an Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Her choreographer was Salman who had won Dance India Dance.

Indian Media made a huge buzz about paparazzi pictures taken of Yaana at a charity event in Mumbai in November, 2010, wearing no panties.[6] Yana Gupta, Sushila Nirali - the organizer of the event and the photographer who clicked those photos were sued for the 'pantyless stunt'.[7] She was quiet relaxed and jokingly said "I am the No-Panty girl now."[8]
